Robert Winner Sons Inc. has been in business since 1928. That is an astonishing 80 plus years! A company doesn’t stay in business that long in this area without serving the publics needs both professionally and fairly.  The way to do that is to be honest with every customer and treat them with utmost respect.

Robert F. Winner, the grandfather of the management team today, started this business 84 years ago by slaughtering hogs and cattle in a barn and then processing the meat for local people. He then started buying hogs and cattle from area farmers as the demand for the processed meat kept developing. When it was apparent that he no longer could keep up with the demand and needed some extra help, his five sons one at a time joined in to help. They then expanded their business to the plant where we are today. The customers kept coming and the business kept growing. As they started doing more and more processing it led Robert and his boys to an idea to start a grocery store/meat market to sell the meat they have processed. Living in a rural area, the farmers needed a place to sell their livestock and that is when the Winner boys had another idea and decided to buy their first truck. Then they were buying and selling livestock and then transporting them to local packers like Decker’s in Piqua, Ohio.

The Winner boys decided to incorporate the business in the year of 1962 which is now known as Robert Winner Sons Incorporated. Unfortunately, Robert Winner passed away in 1965 and left his five sons to run the business he started years ago.

Today, 7 of the grandchildren of Robert Winner have joined into the business to keep this family tradition going of buying, selling and trucking of livestock, and selling their quality meats and homemade products to the surrounding areas.

The Winner’s then purchased a farm and slaughterhouse in Greenville where we later started a fresh meat case there also. It is here where we have the capability to raise up to 120 head of cattle that we use for our slaughter. We have the capability to feed and house over 5000 hogs in hog barns that are spread across several different farms. At one of our adjacent farms we have a mix mill to grind all are own feed for our livestock. By mixing our own feed we know exactly what goes into that animal right up to the point of slaughter.

Robert Winner Sons Inc. has undoubtedly grown over the last 80 plus years. We now employ over 50 full time and another 25 part time employees spread throughout our company today. We farm over 600 acres, operate two slaughterhouses, one of which also has a retail meat case, a grocery store with another fresh meat case and also are buying hogs at several different locations throughout Ohio and Indiana. We have now become the largest independent hog buyer in the state of Ohio!

We have expanded our fleet of trucks and trailers in which we call “Winner Trucking Inc” to a total of 17 now. We haul hogs and cattle of all sizes and deliver them to farmers and meat packers across 24 different states. All of our drivers are now TQA Certified to assure that all of the livestock we haul will be handled humanely and treated with the up most care.

In October of 2001, we have achieved yet another feat. We have received a grant of inspection from the Federal Government which now enables us the capabilities to ship our quality meats anywhere in the United States since we are now USDA inspected.

Over the last 80 years of doing business in this area, we have been able to acquire the publics trust in buying our products for one single reason. Our customers know what they are getting every single time they buy from us. We take great pride in putting our name on every label of packaged meat we sell and will continue to serve our customers with the same service they have grown accustomed to over these many years.

Our customer base keeps growing as word of our fine quality meats keeps spreading even greater distances. We are currently serving customers over a 100 some mile radius with their processing needs and our fine selection of Award Winning Homemade Products that we make. We also have been shipping our quality products to many states via UPS.

Robert Winner Sons Inc. officers today, credits their Grandfather Robert, and his five sons Vernon, Ralph, Urban, Tom, and Kenny Winner for laying down the foundation of this great company in the previous years. This has allowed the 7 grandchildren of Robert and Kathryn Winner to bring this striving company to where it is today!  Additionally, we would have not been able to expand and grow this company to this level if it wasn’t for our group of dedicated employees we have. Behind every successful business there has to be a great team of employees and that is what we have here! Whenever asked to give a little more they are always willing to do so, and with that attitude this company will sure to keep striving forward!. We have several long time employees working for us, and that long term dedication means a lot to us and our company!

We also would like to express our thanks to all our customers for giving us the chance to serve them over the many years. We will be looking forward to serving them all again in the near future, whether it is for processing their meat, or selling them one of our homemade products, or possibly even doing some trucking for them. Whatever it may be, they have our word that we will do the best we can whenever it comes to serving one of our customers!
